Weathering the Storm

It is the first day of March and we, in New England, once again, woke up to a major snow fall. Business is like that too ... the management team and employees wake up one morning and find a problem (or even adisaster) has surfaced overnight. Both groups look to the leadership team for direction and answers. Trust, ability, knowledge, internal and external communications are just a few of the things expected of the company leaders. How do you stack up?

Amongst the Stars

For Christmas my wife gave me a quality telescope. In the cold of last night I went out and gazed at the sky. Amongst the many twinkling stars was a bright, steady, off color light. I aimed the telescope in that vicinity, zeroed in on the object and focused. It was Saturn with its rings crisp as one can see. A sight to behold.

I started thinking about organizations, leadership, and the stars in an organization. Sometimes the contributions of an individual are hidden or masked (in this case as a star)from ordinary view. When you drill down into an organization you start to see the individual contributors, the team players, all the stars who, collectively, make for a bright sky and future for the company.
